Sending your kids out to fundraise

When selling those chocolate bars door to door (believe me, it’s a great learning experience for kids!) remember:
Don't send your sellers out unprepared. Part of youth sports is teaching. Helping kids with their sales skills goes a long way toward building self confidence.

Here's what to tell them:

  1. Make eye contact, smile and introduce yourself.
  2. Say one sentence about why you are raising funds.
  3. Say second sentence that asks for their help.
  4. Make sure that sentence includes the word "because".
  5. Extend sample item, catalog, or order sheet.
  6. Suggest a personal favorite item or bundle.
  7. Always ask for the order.

Do you have a good fundraising idea? Help the Haney Neptunes fundraise and parents to earn their fundraising dollars. Please bring your ideas forward. We are looking for parents to bring ideas and run individual fundraiser events. If you know of a company or organization that would be willing to provide sponsorship, then please let us know. Corporate sponsors are a cornerstone to the fundraising process and the Neptunes can work out a variety of ways to advertise our sponsors.

Summer 2017: Fundraising Commitment per family $250

As our biggest fundraiser for the year, the Haney Neptunes will be holding a swim-a-thon. For those of you who don’t know what a swim-a-thon is, it is where your athlete swims as many lengths as they can in an hour, and friends, family and neighbours sponsor them for their efforts. The athletes can either be sponsored per length, or by a flat rate for their efforts.

Here are some things you need to know about the swim-a-thon:

  •   The swim-a-thon will take place Wednesday July 26th during afternoon practice times from 3:00-4:00, 4:00-5:00 and 5:00-6:00. Knowing that these are not actual practice times, please come to the session that fits closest to your regular Wednesday practices. If your athlete does not wish to participate (though highly encouraged), then there will be no practices that day

  •   If you are in polo or synchro only, you can join in too! Please come between one of the following practices and swim as many lengths as you can: 3:00-4:00, 4:00-5:00, or 5:00-6:00.

  •   Ask friends, family and even neighbours to sponsor your child. Many are willing to do so, especially when the kids are working for the donation!

  •   Don’t underestimate your childs’ ability!

  •   100% of the money earned by your child will go towards your summer fundraising commitment

(50% towards future credit after your total commitment is met).

  •   Please be prepared to bring amount of money sponsored for your child to the actual event. This will allow us to determine prizes to be drawn and distributed at the regional pep rally (to be determined. In the past, families have written a cheque for the amount pledged overall the day of, then collected from friends and family after the event takes place.

  •   We will need parent volunteers at each session! Please be prepared to stay and help count lengths during your childs swim-a-thon – we can’t run a swim-a-thon without people to count lengths!

  •   There will be PRIZES! At each sponsorship level reached, your child will be get their name into a draw for prizes. The family that raises the most money will receive CLUB FEES PAID FOR ONE ATHLETE FOR SUMMER 2018! Athletes will receive tickets for draw prizes at the following levels:

  •   $25 $75 $150+

  •   Prizes will be drawn randomly at the Regional Pep Rally!
Attached is a sheet to track sponsors. I will be putting copies for you to take as well in the fundraising

folder in the blue box early next week.
